The city center of Nairobi is just 18 km away from Nairobi airport. Your hotel might provide shuttle service from the airport – contact them in advance to find out. You can also get to the city center by taxi, by bus or with a mini-bus. A taxi journey is the most popular and the quickest transfer option – your taxi ride would take around 40 minutes, given there are no traffic jams. If you want to travel by bus, board line 34 that runs every 20 minutes Monday to Friday between 6am and 9pm. It would take about 60 minutes to reach the city center by bus or by mini-bus that the locals call ‘matatu’.
