London Heathrow Airport: The UK’s busiest airport by passenger numbers by far

London Heathrow Airport is the world’s seventh-busiest airport (as of 2017, with over 78 million passengers) and the busiest of all UK airports. It’s also a key part in the world’s biggest city airport system, which also includes Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, City and Southend Airports. London Heathrow Airport is 15 miles west of central London. By car, terminals 2 and 3 are reached from junction 4 of the M4 or junction 15 of the M25. Terminals 4 and 5 are accessed from junction 14 (M25) or junction 4b (M4). The six different parking options are short-stay, business, meet and greet, pod parking, valet parking and long-stay (shuttle bus to terminals, allow 5 to 20 minutes for journey).

The Heathrow Express runs from Paddington every 15 minutes (15 to 20-minute journey). The Tfl Rail service takes 30 minutes to terminals 2, 3 and 4, leaving every 30 minutes from Paddington and stopping at Acton Main line, Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Hanwell, Southall and Hayes and Harlington.

The London Underground’s Piccadilly Line serves all terminals. From King’s Cross St Pancras underground to Terminal 5 takes about 1 hour.

Heathrow Central Bus station is a few minutes’ walk from terminals 2 and 3. Local buses 105, 111, 140, 285, A10, N9, U3 and X26 and many intercity buses serve this station.
