Things to do
There are plenty of historical buildings as well as art galleries and museums to visit. Gastronomic delights include the dish Bouillabaisse, Tapenade and Pastis, the local drink. Marseille is well connected by bus and train so you will have no trouble getting out and about.
Centre Bourse at rue St Ferréol, is the main shopping mall, which is off La Canebière, (the historic high street in the old quarter of Marseille). Artists including Auguste Renoir Georges Braque and Raoul Dufy often visited the port of l'Estaque at the Bay of Marseille, and Paul Cézanne made the view famous in his landscape of 1878.
